Bay Area LGBT Jewish Leadership Convening

On Monday afternoon, June 28, in conjunction with the larger national LGBT Jewish movement-building retreat, we will host a focused convening on LGBT activism and inclusion in the San Francisco Bay Area Jewish community for activists and leaders from throughout the region.  The sessions will last from 4pm-6:30pm, and will be followed by a working dinner from 6:30pm-8pm. All attendees are then invited to join us for a keynote address from Stuart Milk at 8pm.

The aims of this part of the program are twofold. First, we want all the participants in the national retreat to learn from the diverse experiences of the many activists and leaders who are based in the Bay Area; while the conference is national in its orientation, one advantage of holding it in Berkeley is that we can draw on decades of inherited wisdom from generations of LGBT and Jewish activists and leaders. Second, we want to use the occasion of the conference to focus attention on community building and collaboration in the Bay Area Jewish community specifically. During the Monday afternoon sessions and dinner, invited participants in the Bay Area sessions will have the opportunity to network, plan, speak, listen, learn, and discuss issues of interest to activists and leaders in the Bay Area Jewish community. This is a wide-open space for Jewish professionals, grassroots activists, and individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to fully inclusive Jewish communities.

Thanks to generous support from the Charles & Lynn Schusterman Foundation and the Richard & Rhoda Goldman Fund, the Bay Area session and dinner is free of charge for all invited participants. Unfortunately, due to financial and space limitations, attendance is restricted to activists and leaders who have made a significant impact on LGBT welcoming and inclusion in the Jewish community.  If you are one such individual, please contact us for an invitation.
